AllMusic Review by

Priority's Chart Toppers series is an excellent budget-line collection, offering a strong selection of 15 original hits, grouped by a specific theme and decade, on each disc. Chart Toppers: R&B Hits of the 60's combines deep soul, Motown, R&B, pop-soul, blues, uptown soul and New Orleans R&B -- an eclectic bunch, to say the least, but the variety helps capture the feeling of the decade. A few of the songs haven't dated well, but for the most part, the selection of songs is terrific, albeit a little predictable. Among the highlights on the disc are Sam & Dave's "Soul Man," Martha Reeves & the Vandellas' "Nowhere to Run," Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "Ooh Baby," the Delfonics' "La La Means I Love You," Jackie Wilson's "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher," Little Anthony & the Imperials' "Goin' Out of My Head," Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is," Jay & the Techniques' "Apples, Peaches & Pumpkin Pie," Bob Helm's "Sunny," Little Milton's "We're Gonna Make It" and the Impressions' "Gypsy Woman."
