This three-disc set collects 45 number one country hits, chronologically arranged from 1952 through 1979, and nearly every one of them is an iconic genre classic, including Porter Wagoner's "Satisfied Mind," Faron Young's "Hello Walls," George Jones' "White Lightning," Roger Miller's "King of the Road," Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried," and Johnny Paycheck's "Take This Job and Shove It," among many others. It's a nice collection, but what really makes it work is having everything unwind chronologically year to year across three decades.
