This compilation brings together some of the strongest voices in traditional Irish music. Spare and without ornamentation (and often a cappella), the voices shine with clear, bell-like tones. A mixture of Gaelic and English vocals provide an exotic, authentic sound while allowing American audiences to also focus on the lyrical content of the songs. Highlights on the album include "There Was a Maid in Her Father's Garden" sung by Dolores Keane and the Real Union and "Ailein Dunn" by the Whistlebinkies.
