Celtic Dawn: Tales of the New Age presents the work of seven up-and-coming Celtic music interpreters. Stylistically, the set falls on the Celtic/new age fusion side of things, with material from Graham Kin incorporating ambient nature sounds and Mark Dignam's blandly pleasant "An Taoide ar Oileán Cléire," which suggests contemporary instrumental music. Three mid-album tracks from Dagda are also an odd choice, as no other contributor received so much face time. The group's light electronica textures and subtle drum programs are nicely done, but their connection to or use of the Celtic aesthetic could have been more apparent. Still, Tales of the New Age isn't without its highlights, and it's a nice way to say you were there when and if any of these artists hit the big time.
