The Lonesome Organist's second full-length release, Cavalcade, is a true exhibition of his multi-instrumental mastery. Every bit as eclectic as his first release, Collector of Cactus Echo Bags, Cavalcade features instruments from chime piano to saws to saxophones. The second track "Balloon Race Phenomenon" sets the bar high for the rest of the album, with raw percussion and a true rock & roll organ run. And although none of the songs thereafter rock quite as hard, they are all unique. Their uniqueness makes them funny, though fortunately they never reach the level of absurdity. Besides, the Lonesome Organist's superb song-writing ability keeps this album from being a mere curiosity. There are tracks on here that you can sing along to, or at least get stuck in your head. Cavalcade is a near ideal mixture of technical skill, playfulness, and clever song writing.
