The title CASUALLY SMASHED TO PIECES hints at the entropic approach to pop music that Kent, Ohio's the Six Parts Seven has adopted on this and their previous albums. Pretty but angular, catchy but scratchy, cinematic music for the art-house, the instrumentals here buzz with smarts and life, not unlike those by The Sea and Cake or Shudder to Think. It's no surprise that their compositions have been used as NPR's incidental music.
