AllMusic Review by

An album, in retrospect, more important for the accompanying musicians than Hester herself. Hester delivered a solid, somewhat precious set of traditional material in the early-'60s Greenwich Village folk mode. One of the first LPs of the scene to use a full band, it also featured guitar by future Dylan accompanist Bruce Langhorne, bassist Bill Lee (who also played on many other folk albums of the era by Ian & Sylvia and others), and Dylan himself, who contributed harmonica to a few tracks shortly before he made his own Columbia debut. The CD reissue adds a couple of bonus alternate takes.
