Cardinal Points have reissued their debut world fusion sampler in a remastered version for 2001. It contains the same four songs as the original release, still featuring such diverse musical influences as Scandinavian rhythms melded with Arabic on "Omelas" and Latin lyrics with Celtic on "Primedian." While there's something to be said for polishing technique, they still need to strengthen "Primedian"'s vocals and rebalance them with the instrumentals. Also, fans of this Pittsburgh, PA-based band will be hoping for additional material on their next release. If listeners do not yet have Cardinal Points' work in their collections, it's probably useful to get the 2001 remixes; however, anyone having the previous version may want to just wait for the next album before buying again.
