AllMusic Review by

May the gods bless El Toro. They've done some stellar compilations over the years, but this one by proto-rockabilly icon Charlie Feathers is among the very best. These two discs -- sold for a budget price -- contain virtually all of his 1950s sessions for Sun and other independent labels -- including two guest appearances on guitar on a rare single (A- and B-sides) by Jody Chastain -- nine alternate takes, six unreleased masters, and all of his demos for Sun in one handy slipcase box. For anyone who hasn't heard Feathers, one of the most idiosyncratic (perhaps iconoclastic) and original singers rockabilly and country ever produced, you need to. For Feathers fans, this set is the grail and is every bit as fine as the long out of print Revenant set from the '90s. Snap it up.
