AllMusic Review by

These recordings were made by Salih Abd al-Hayy, Abd al-Latif al-Banna, Zaki Murad and Amin Hassanayn, among the most famous and accomplished vocalists of their day, during the 1910s. It's a bit ingenuous to call them coffee house singers, but the title does capture the notion that they worked on the cusp of a change from performance for small gatherings to public performance.
