AllMusic Review by

This compilation features half-a-dozen Illinois Jacquet performances from the late 1960s and early '70s, including a roaring live rendition of the title track recorded in a trio setting at Ronnie Scott's in London in 1971, and the beautifully fluid "Ghost of a Chance," from 1968. In a variety of small group settings, including organ, guitar, and piano combos, the innovative saxophonist displays both his technically adept barnstorming style on cuts like the rollicking "St. Louis Blues," and his Ben Webster-like affinity for ballads on pieces like the after-hours "Blue and Sentimental."
