This high-quality Latin jazz date finds drummer Memo Acevedo's sidemen (which include six horns) really going for it in their solos, particularly trumpeter Kevin Turcotte. The musicians push the boundaries of the style while still paying tribute in their group sound to the tradition of Tito Puente and Mongo Santamaria. Flutist Dave Valentin, pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Tito Puente himself make guest appearances but, even without their assistance, this would be a very successful and highly enjoyable set.
