With the assistance of a fine Canadian rhythm section (pianist Wray Downes, bassist Dave Young and drummer Pete Magadini), veteran tenor-saxophonist Buddy Tate is in fine form on seven standards. All of the songs but "June Night" are so well-known that they could be called "warhorses" yet Tate sounds consistently enthusiastic and creative within the swing idiom. Highlights include "June Night," "Bye Bye Blackbird" and "I'll Remember April."
