AllMusic Review by

On May 1, 1993, trumpeter Randy Sandke and the New York All-Stars performed a concert of Bix Beiderbecke-associated songs, which was released on Nagel-Heyer 002. The following day, the same basic group recorded a dozen warhorses in the studio for the German label. The swing/Dixieland tunes (including "Moten Swing," "Rosetta," "After You've Gone" and "Bye Bye Blackbird," among others) have all been recorded countless times before, but the all-star group (which includes trombonist Dan Barrett, Scott Robinson on tenor, baritone and cornet, and guitarist/vocalist Marty Grosz) brings fresh life to the music, even "Mack the Knife."
