By the time of these broadcasts in 1946-47, Benny Goodman was looked upon as a bit old-fashioned by younger jazz fans more attuned to bebop, and the worsening economic situation for big bands would lead to BG breaking up his orchestra within a few months. Those facts make this set of airchecks more valuable, for they show that Benny Goodman was still inspired by swing music and that his last regular orchestra deserved greater recognition. Anita O'Day sings "The Christmas Song," Art Lund, Jeannie McKeon and Matt Dennis have the other vocals, Goodman's sextet stretches out on two songs and his 1946 big band (whose personnel is unfortunately not listed) proves to be excellent.
