AllMusic Review by

Released in 2003, this U.K. compilation emphasizes Jay-Z's first three albums: Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, and Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life. It’s also heavy on collaborative tracks, given the inclusion of “Brooklyn’s Finest” (with Notorious B.I.G.), “Paper Chase” (with Foxy Brown), “Coming of Age” (with Memphis Bleek), and five other cuts with featured guest verses. Reasonable Doubt and In My Lifetime are both widely regarded as classic ‘90s rap albums, so it’s not like this particular disc was all that necessary. Still, it does provide a decent sampling of Jay-Z's 1996-1998 material for those who have a tight budget.
