From the Water Music label in Los Angeles, Boutique Hotel Amsterdam is a 13-track compilation of lounge, chillout, and downtempo music designed to enhance the atmosphere at elite European hotels. Other titles in the label's series include Boutique Hotel Paris and Boutique Hotel London, which both feature a similar array of swanky, warm electronica lite and easygoing front-of-house jams to promote hushed card-swiping and designer clothes wearing. The Amsterdam set is generally made up of sleek instrumentals that range between smooth jazz offerings (B&W's "Spirit") and lounge/club tracks (Café de Lux's "Vinyl"). A few vocals tracks are peppered throughout the mix, like Bessie Boni's pillow talk jam "Step Into the Night" and Green Pine River's acoustic "Turning Tables." The music of Boutique Hotel Amsterdam is innocuous enough to stay in the background, but sleek and expensive like the black marble in the lobby.
