This second Boston-area jazz anthology issued by Vee Records keeps the listenability and stylistic diversity of last year's collection, while adding some more innovative music. "Maren's Delight," the opening track on the album, brings on the funk with electric guitars and jubilant horn playing. "Guataca City" mixes Latin and modern jazz idioms to produce a fun, danceable tune. In a more classic vein, Jane Miller's "Footprints" provides a soothing refrain. Overall, this album presents a pleasant portrait of Boston jazz.
