AllMusic Review by

Border Spice is a festive album of the acoustic guitar music of the Southwest, played by one of the acknowledged masters of traditional Hispanic guitar. Corrales -- a veteran of the Tex-Mex scene and a former sideman of the legendary accordion-maestro Flaco Jimenez -- incorporates influences from Spanish, Mexican, Afro-Caribbean and country music into this delightful high-spirited album. He plays rhythm and bass as well as his riveting lead guitar, to the accompaniment of assorted percussion and, on four pieces, accordion is played by Ben Tavera King. The tunes range from stately Spanish ballads to sizzling south-of-the-border celebrations, more than living up to the promise of the album title.
