Claudja Barry moved from Salsoul to Chrysalis with her third album, Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes, which found the dance diva continuing to work with German producer Jürgen S. Korduletsch. More focused than Claudja and almost as strong as Sweet Dynamite, this album has a lot going for it. Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes kicks into high gear with the infectious title song, which was Barry's biggest hit and found her appealing to commercial radio as well as dance clubs; she keeps the momentum going with appealing tracks that range from the erotic "Cold Fire" and the playful "Give It Up" to the exhilarating "Forget About You." A gutsy cover of the Staple Singers' "Heavy Makes You Happy" makes it clear that Barry is well aware of disco's soul roots, while the strong Caribbean flavor on "Nobody But You" underscores the singer's Jamaican heritage. Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes is an album that Barry can be proud of.
