Time Life's Body and Soul: Ladies Got Soul places a heavy emphasis on female-led hit singles from the '70s and '80s. Several oft-compiled tunes factor in, including Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," the Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men," Sister Sledge's "We Are Family," Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman," and Chic's "Good Times." Slightly less familiar hit singles -- Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Love Come Down," Tina Turner's "Better Be Good to Me," Natalie Cole's "This Will Be" -- are also featured. This is a great compilation for those who don't own half the songs, but otherwise it's guilty of recycling the same material that can be found on dozens of other compilations that came before it.
