The Texas flautist's ground breaking Blue Note jams represents Bobbi Humphrey at her percolating best. A good pickup but not a "pick," cause nine tracks aren't enough for a mandate; plus, they left off great teary vocal tracks like "Just a Love Child." But with fiery son-of-guns like "Chicago Damn" and "Harlem River Drive" -- a motorists' best friend -- along with the jazz-up "Spanish Harlem," helps to ease the omissions. This collection was worth its weight in gold until later CD compilations made it obsolete.
