Blues Legends combines previously released live albums by B.B. King (How Blue Can You Get), John Lee Hooker (Trouble Blues), and Muddy Waters (I'm Ready Live!) into one package, and while there is no denying that all three of these musicians are indeed bona fide and certified blues legends, these live sets aren't exactly the place to start for any of them -- not that there's a problem with these three albums per se. King, in particular, sounds more animated and lively than those who only know him these days from his diabetes medication commercials, while Hooker and Waters deliver what they always delivered during their long careers. The music in each case is fine, just not essential.
