MCA Special Products' Blues Greatest culls ten highlights from their vaults, including cuts from various labels, such as Chess, they've acquired over the years. During that time, they've amassed one of the best blues catalogs around, as the roster of Blues Greatest attests. Over the course of ten tracks, strong songs (not necessarily hits) from Albert Collins ("Don't Lose Your Cool"), Lowell Fulson ("Reconsider Baby"), John Lee Hooker ("I'm in the Mood"), Buddy Guy ("Stone Crazy"), B.B. King ("Philadelphia"), Koko Taylor ("Wang Dang Doodle"), Little Milton ("We're Gonna Make It"), Bobby Bland ("Do What You Set Out to Do") and Willie Dixon ("Walking the Blues") are all featured. While it may have been nice to have some outright hits on the collection, the end result is nevertheless quite entertaining and, to some casual blues fans, worth the budget price.
