This LP contains eight performances that were being released for the first time in 1984. Thelonious Monk is heard on several numberswith his 1958 Quartet that featured tenor-saxophonist Johnny Griffin, and on a selection apiece with a sextet (with Griffin, trumpeter Donald Byrd and baritonist Pepper Adams), quintet (featuring his longtime tenor Charlie Rouse and cornetist Thad Jones), quartet ("Crepescule with Nellie") and solo ("Body and Soul"). A strong all-round set it certainly deserved to be released.
