Blueberry is singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Gwen Snyder. It would be easy to label the songs on her self-titled album as neo-soul, and there's no shortage of '70s R&B influences here, but there's more than that going on. Snyder's vibrant production suggests Prince meeting Timbaland in a time machine that makes stops at the heyday of trip-hop and the rise of Soul II Soul. And the atmosphere often turns toward dreamy, '60s-pop echoes, lending BLUEBERRY a unique sonic character.
