Blood Is Shining is a noble undertaking by electronic artists Eastern Dub Tactik. The goal of the album is to celebrate "cultural rebels and visionaries" who have sacrificed their lives to change the world. On top of this, they decide to celebrate by combining virtually every genre of modern music into a big electronica stew. This is indeed a brave undertaking, and one that is very respectable. Unfortunately, the music that they choose to celebrate with is pretty average. Each song is certainly interesting when they first begin, but most of the songs do not try and change or do anything new outside of what the song begins with. This is frustrating because so many of these songs have the basis for a great song inside of them, but never reach that potential. With such a complicated idea for an album there was bound to be a few problems, but this is an album that underwhelms through very little effort. The cause is noble; the results are not quite as noble.
