One of the numerous bootlegs that resulted from Blondie's U.S. tour during the summer of 1979, Blond Fever was recorded at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on August 15 of that year. The problem with this bootleg isn't Blondie's performance -- the new wave power-popsters are in fine form on such favorites as "Heart of Glass," "Sunday Girl," "Pretty Baby" and "Hanging on the Telephone." The problem with Blond Fever is its weak sound quality. The Greek, an outdoor venue located in the hills of L.A.'s Griffith Park/Los Feliz area, had often been accused of having a ho-hum sound system -- so the bootlegger was probably taping under less than ideal conditions. Blond Fever sounds like the work of a bootlegger who managed to sneak a high-quality stereo recorder into the venue but still didn't get a very good recording because he/she had an inadequate sound system to contend with. This is an LP that only completists would find of interest.
