Big Band Legends: The Hollywood Years provides only adequate representation of Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and Tommy Dorsey. While the performances and sound quality are fine, the superior vitality associated with these giants of swing are best represented elsewhere. Seek out Decca's Anthology of Big Band Swing (1930-1955) or RCA's Only Big Band CD You'll Ever Need for definitive performances of the era.
