AllMusic Review by

This three-disc set could have easily been a double-disc one, since each volume only includes ten songs each, and truthfully, with a little editing, most of the best of these songs would probably have fit on a single disc. That said, everything here is the original single version, which is a definite plus, since frequently these kinds of nostalgia-aimed anthologies substitute later stereo versions of the hit in question for the original radio single. Tracks included run the gamut, from folk-rock ("Laugh, Laugh" by the Beau Brummels) to hard Detroit rock ("Jenny Take a Ride" by Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels) to straight soul ("Respect" by Otis Redding) and AM pop ("Five O'Clock World" by the Vogues). Again, at least they're all the original hit versions.
