AllMusic Review by

Best of Oldies but Goodies, Vol. 3 is a reshuffling of songs licensed by Original Sound Records for Art Laboe's venerable Oldies but Goodies series of hits compilations. As usual, the selection and sequencing seem random, but, also as usual, the heart of the album is vocal group ballads of the early '60s. The tracks range from the number one hits "He's So Fine" and "Soldier Boy" to less-successful Top 40 items like the Skyliners' revival of Bing Crosby's "Pennies From Heaven" and Brenton Wood's "Baby You Got It," so listeners will hear the familiar and maybe discover a song or two they haven't heard before. (Note that the version of the Dells' "Oh What a Night" is the original 1956 Vee-Jay Records recording that was only an R&B hit, not the 1966 remake on Cadet Records that made both the pop and R&B charts.)
