This is one of the many Best of Judas Priest collections out there; this one issued by Japan's JVC imprint covers only the earliest period in the band's history, with its first three albums represented: Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny, and Sin After Sin. It is essentially a reissue of the Gull Records best-of issued in the late '70s, but expands on it by almost half, digging deeper into the three albums it represents. That doesn't necessarily make it a better listen -- since the material on all but the last of that triplet was somewhat uneven -- but it does offer more well-rounded portraits of them. If you have them, there is no reason for this. If you don't, skip the debut album and start with Sad Wings of Destiny; take in that first one after you've made it through 1978's Stained Class and 1979's Hell Bent for Leather.
