Like its predecessor, Best of Contemporary Jazz, Vol. 2 is a reasonably enjoyable smooth jazz collection, considering its budget price. Most of this volume is devoted to new age instrumentalists or musicians that just work laid-back grooves, but Toots Thielemans, David Benoit, Ronny Jordan and Stanley Jordan offer some nice respites. Much of this will be too lightweight for serious jazz fans, but anyone who enjoys smooth jazz radio should like this.
