AllMusic Review by

Though by no means definitive, the seventh volume in BMG's multi-part, budget-line overview of the big band sound of the 1940s is still a good introduction to the swing era -- while the omission of liner notes is endlessly frustrating, the overall sound quality is strong, and perennials like Perry Como's "Prisoner of Love," Vaughn Monroe's "The Things We Did Last Summer" and Sammy Kaye's "The Gypsy" never go out of style.
