Best Disco Album in the World...Ever! Review

by Jason Ankeny

The Best Disco Album in the World Ever doesn't come remotely close to living up to the hyperbole of its title -- hell, it doesn't even include the best disco single in the world ever, Carol Douglas' "Doctor's Orders" -- but it's a pretty good retrospective nevertheless, assembling 44 hits across two discs. The highlights come fast and furious, and just a representative sampling includes Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," Diana Ross' "Upside Down," Labelle's "Lady Marmalade" and Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)"; as this is a British import, however, American consumers might be better served by Rhino's four-disc, domestic-priced Disco Box, so comparison shopping is advised.
