Prospects for The Jets, a formerly hot Minneapolis family group, still seemed good when this late '80s session was released. They had had two R&B smashes the year before and were being compared in some places to New Edition in its formative stages. But urban contemporary and New Jack Swing R&B was getting much harder, and the group's light, coy sound would soon be hard pressed to keep pace. That's what ultimately halted their chart run, even though they continued to make alternately charming and formulaic music.
