AllMusic Review by

After the success of British label Nascente's 2003 album Beginner's Guide to Salsa, which focused on the classics of the genre, compiler and DJ Lubi Jovanovic decided to start gathering tracks for a second edition. This time he stayed within the past two decades of salsa, both from older artists like Jimmy Bosch and Los Titanes, as well as newer ones like Grupo X. The collection is divided into three discs based on tempo, moving from slow to fast, though nothing is actually slow in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, all of the songs, from José "El Canario" Alberto's "Usted No Me Conoco" to Africando's "Grog Moin" to the Soneros del Barrio's "Canuto" to Orlando Watussi's "Son Caleno" are bright and warm, full of the percussion, horn fills, and super-clean vocals that define contemporary salsa, and in terms of a sampler of the genre, this one performs very well.
