It takes some mighty big cajones to name your album Beastwomen from the Center of the Earth: A Rock Odyssey, but who would dare try to argue about album title etiquette with an intimidating figure like Thor? Thor has always been one of metal's more theatrically minded performers (especially evidenced by his photo shoots), and in 2004, he took it to a whole new level by collaborating with artist Michael Hoffman -- which was billed as a "fantasy concept album/comic book." As heavy and goofy as ever, Beastwomen contains several sure-fire Thor classics -- especially the album-opening "Break the Ice" (which would have sounded perfect as the B-side to Spinal Tap's "Stonehenge") and "Hail Thor" (a metal classic in song title alone). If your main passions in life are Dungeons and Dragons-esque artwork and defiant heavy metal, then it's time to embark on the mighty Beastwomen from the Center of the Earth: A Rock Odyssey journey.
