Be My Love: Mario Lanza's Greatest Performances at M-G-M contains 20 tracks culled from five Joe Pasternak films Lanza performed in between 1949 and 1954: That Midnight Kiss, The Toast of New Orleans, The Great Caruso, Because You're Mine, and The Student. All of these selections are taken from the original motion picture soundtracks, which means nineteen of these songs have never been officially released. That doesn't necessarily mean that this record is for collectors only, because these are the versions that many casual listerners will be familiar with, since they were in the films. Lanza was at his peak during these five years, and this collection provides proof that Lanza was one of the greatest tenors of all time.
