The first volume of K-Tel's Back to the '60s series is based on inferior re-recordings of hits that were released primarily during the first half of the decade. As with the other volumes in the series, it's a cheap way to obtain a lot of music, but you're going to get what you pay for. Some of the inclusions on this disc include the Beau Brummels' "Laugh Laugh," Del Shannon's "Runaway," the Buckinghams' "Kind of a Drag," Little Anthony & the Imperials' "Goin' Out of My Head," the Box Tops' "Cry Like a Baby," Chubby Checker's "The Twist," and the Drifters' "Under the Boardwalk." Only two selections here are the original versions.
