Park South Records' collection Back to Back Hits pairs '70s smooth soul giants the Chi-Lites up with chart-toppers the Whispers, devoting seven tracks to each. Here's the catch (as with so many of Park South's releases): the very first track on the compilation, number one hit "Oh Girl," is most definitely not the Chi-Lites, unless of course the Chi-Lites re-recorded the song with a different vocalist who has a terrible fake Southern accent. (Who are they trying to fool? They were called the Chi-Lites, with "Chi" as in "Chicago," and definitely were not Southern!) This, without even continuing to listen on, makes the collection utterly worthless. It would be best for the consumer to move on to more respectable collections like the Chi-Lites' 20 Greatest Hits on Brunswick and the Whispers' Greatest Hits on Capitol.
