AllMusic Review by

Castle's double-disc set Anthology may be quite long at 39 tracks, but Mungo Jerry actually warrants that kind of in-depth look -- provided that you're already converted to the peculiar joys of this almost electric jug band. They had a lot more to offer outside of "In the Summertime," although that shuffling boogie is a terrific definition of a one-hit wonder, but you have to already like that sound to want to dig into this set. If you do, there are a lot of offbeat gems to hear, from old-timey folk and blues songs to originals. It is a lot of Mungo Jerry, and it's not for everybody, but for collectors who want an exhaustive overview, this satisfies.
