Lionell Horrowitz & His Combo are one of the oldest side projects of Rudy Trouvé. The disc itself, Au Bain Marie, contains songs recorded between as early as 1991 to 1997. The term "side project" never was so fitted for a band, for they never toured but only did occasional gigs. Along with Trouvé, the band stars the musicians of Kiss My Jazz, Gore Slut drummer Dirk Belmans, and a member of Golf (plus other people apparently only playing in this group). The band invited numerous guests, too, among them Cinérex members and also Dead Man Ray singer Daan Stuyven. This features many people, many influences, and many songs covering many years that could have conferred the disc the aspect of a poor collection. It did not. As all Heavenhotel records, the sound is right, and especially here where tunes can be labeled under a different genre, it creates unity out of jazzy pieces, rock-influenced experimentations, or pure moments of insanity.
