AllMusic Review by

Culled from four live dates that cover a significant period in Miles career, this disc features such musicians at Jay Jay Johnson, Sonny Rollins, Max Roach and Art Blakey. This collection features some excellent performances in what were perhaps bebop's most fruitful years, though the sound quality, unfortunately, is poor.

Outstanding tunes like Bud Powell's "Tempus Fugit" and Miles own "Evance" are given highly energized treatments with strong playing all around. Far and away the best thing about these cuts is the sheer head-crushing power and lightning complexity of Art Blakey's drumming which, on tracks like "Wee" and "Evance," sounds like it's going to demolish the stage. These probably aren't the best available live Miles tracks, but they're excellent in many ways.
