Hanson's At the Fillmore is amazing proof that the band of brothers is not any of the negative stereotypes associated with music popular with teen girls. The DVD is the first thing that every Hanson fan should reach for when defending the band. The performance is mind-blowing: Taylor's charisma is mesmerizing, and the quality of their music is incredible. Originally broadcast on DirecTV, the DVD includes exclusive live concert footage filmed during Hanson's tour supporting their sophomore album, This Time Around, and was recorded at the Fillmore in San Francisco on June 27, 2000. Every song here is a standout track, though "MMMBop" sounded better when the boys had higher, younger voices. But the older version of the band reaches new heights here with "If Only," "Thinking of You," "Love Song," "Where's the Love," "You Never Know," and "Sure About It." That is nearly the entire concert, and that is no overstatement; At the Fillmore is that good. The disc also includes the bonus videos "If Only" and "This Time Around." Sadly, the release includes only the 12 songs broadcast on TV, though the band usually performs twice that number in concert. At the Fillmore is essential to any Hanson fan and any music lover who looks for bands to fall in love with, and is open to being impressed. This does not disappoint.
