This little-known live session was Soprano Summit's earliest recording as a pianoless quintet featuring guitarist-singer Marty Grosz. Although five of the eight selections appeared on either their first or third record, these renditions are quite a bit different and (if anything) even hotter. Co-leaders Bob Wilber and Kenny Davern (doubling on clarinet and soprano) have always made for a mutually inspiring team and, with Grosz, bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Fred Stoll completing the group, the results are pretty memorable. Highlights include "Swing Parade," "A Porter's Love Song to a Chambermaid," "Ole Miss" and "Swing That Music."
