AllMusic Review by

For those with just a passing knowledge of Norteno music, ARCOIRIS MUSICAL MEXICO 2004 is a treasure-trove of the genre. The collection incorporates tracks by such Mexican stalwarts as Bronco and Los Huracanes Del Norte, whose rolling waltz-time "Ujule" is a highlight. The album features relative newcomers such as Jenni Rivera, who was raised in California but offers up a banda-style "Ahora Vengo A Verte" that's as classically Mexican as they come, complete with brass and marching band accouterments.

Another Latina up-and-comer is the Grammy-nominated Jennifer Pena, whose sultry "A Fuego Lento" highlights the less traditional side of Norteno music while accentuating its dance rhythms. An entertaining mix of old and new, ARCOIRIS MUSICAL MEXICO 2004 is a scintillating showcase of some of the best artists modern banda, corrido, and Norteno music has to offer.
