This 15-song concert recording made in September 1983 alongside the reunion tour with co-founder Graham Nash supplants the mid-'70s Hollies Live. The group recorded this show in 24-track, intending to release it as a live album, which never appeared in the wake of the financially abortive tour. Remastered in 24-bit digital from the original tapes, the CD captures the exquisite harmonies beautifully. The group performs the expected hits ("I Can't Let Go," "Just One Look," "Bus Stop," "On a Carousel," etc.) with some smoothing out, in keeping with the decade in which they were done. The keyboards (especially on a gorgeous rendition of "Just One Look") show the influence of synth pop on some songs, but the band still rocks, especially on the jam to "Long Cool Woman," which uses "Shakin' All Over" as its jumping-off point. Among the surprises are the stripped-down "King Midas in Reverse" and the group's covers of "Wasted on the Way" and "Teach Your Children," which work well. And we get a live version of the then-current single, "Stop! In the Name of Love."
