AllMusic Review by

This anthology encompasses the classy tenor's Cadence and Kapp Records tracks; with 20 songs, it's the best overview of Lenny Welch's career available to date. Every number fills its space well, but none better then his unforgettable, almost fatal-attraction rendition of Buddy Johnson's "Since I Fell for You." He almost recaptures the magic on "Ebb Tide," "Taste of Honey," and the '50s-ish "Congratulations Baby." The Kapp sides were more contemporary and feature Lenny's classy tenor squeezing heartfelt emotions from Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil's "Not You," as well as Gerry Goffin and Carol King's "I Was There." Welch wraps his golden pipes around an early Seals & Crofts song, "If You See My Love," the singles "Darling Take Me Back" and "Rags to Riches," and more. A virtual music smorgasbord fit for kings and queens.
