A fluent and appealing jazz violinist, Diane Delin performs seven of her originals, two standards and an obscurity on her set. Based in the Midwest, Delin is technically skilled, has a pretty sound and is a fine improviser. The music ranges from rhapsodic ballads (including the haunting "Goodbyes") to light funk and one swinging straight-ahead track ("New Boots"). In general the material is not on the same level as the playing (Delin is a better violinist than songwriter) but the overall results are pleasing and show that Diane Delin is an impressive jazz violinist.
